European Square

A survey of the public square as the organising form of the European city — the space where civic life, commerce and ritual have been staged for centuries.

Shot panoramically throughout, some frames taken as panoramas and some stitched. The format is the argument: a square is not a view but an enclosure, and it can only be seen whole by a frame wide enough to hold both its sides at once.

Made as a magazine project and published across several titles over its life. Now completed.
